Musical Instrument Museum is now open!

The Musical Instrument Museum in North Phoenix opened on April 24th. This one-of-a-kind museum showcases the instruments of the world, displayed roughly by continent, and features state-of-the-art, wireless technology that allows you to see and hear the instruments being played. Guests will also be able to touch and play some instruments as well as get an “insider’s view” of how instruments work.

I visited MIM a few months ago while it was still under construction and only a handful of the museum’s 12,000 instruments were on display, and I can’t wait to go back. I’d like to see the Steinway that is cut into sections as well as the transparent piano that shows the instrument’s innerworkings as it is played. I’m also looking forward to the Experience Gallery where you’ll be able to play the instruments.

Has anyone been yet? What are your impressions?

  1. That’s a great shot of the museum!

  2. I did a hard hat tour a couple of months ago and I can’t wait to take my kids and husband – I think they’ll love the interactive room where you can play the instruments!
